Some people attribute this memory loss which some old people encounter to some superstitious beliefs, the truth is that it is merely a degeneration of the brain which anybody can suffer.

1 smoking.
Smoking affects a person’s brain so much that scientists say that it may cause a shrinking of the brain. A person should avoid or quit the habit of smoking in order not to suffer dementia later in life.

  1. Excessive consumption of alcohol.
    Alcoholism may cause a degeneration of the brain. When a person is drunk and he is misbehaving, he is doing so because his brain has been affected. As he continues to do this, the brain may receive a permanent degeneration.
  2. Poor dieting.
    The brain needs care like every other parts of the body. Some foods we eat help our brain to function properly. In the same vein, some foods also hastens the degeneration of the brain.

Foods such as saturated fats, trans fats and alcohol are dangerous for our brain. In the same way, some foods such as green vegetables and nuts are good foods that supply the brain with important nutrients that protects it.
