Kano State on Thursday discharged 16 additional patients from its facilities after they tested negative twice.
The state commissioner for health, Dr. Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa, the taskforce Co-Chair, Professor of Infectious diseases, Abdulrazaq Habib were among the persons discharged.
The Guardian confirmed the case of the university don through a text message received from him on 18th April, 2020.
Although, the state government disclosed the contraction of the Co-chair and three other members of the taskforce. Until the news of his discharged, the status of the commissioner for health was not revealed.
The state commissioner for Information, Muhammad Garba, in a statement said a total number of 22 recoveries have been made in the state.
Garba said that all the patients have tested negative for the virus after the two follow up tests and have therefore reached full recovery.
He advised the public to continue to observe the strictest personal hygiene through regular hand washing, use of face mask and social distancing.
A total of 55 new cases were confimed in Kano on Thursday night by the Nigeria Center for Disease Control. So far, the state has recorded 482 cases.
